Parlez-nous en !<br \/>\n<\/strong>Thierry M\u00e9troz : C\u2019est quelque chose que je voulais voir aboutir depuis longtemps.\u00a0Parce qu\u2019il y a une chose qui est importante pour aller au bout de la qualit\u00e9 intrins\u00e8que de chaque individu, de chaque modeleur num\u00e9rique ou designer, c\u2019est d\u2019avoir un mode d\u2019organisation un peu avant-gardiste.\u00a0Alors oui, notre studio ce design est sans doute diff\u00e9rent de tous ceux qui existent sur la plan\u00e8te\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Diff\u00e9rent dans quelle mesure\u00a0?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Th.M. : Nous sommes un peu structur\u00e9s comme une Start-Up\u00a0!\u00a0C\u2019est diff\u00e9rent des deux autres studios de l\u2019ADN (<em>Peugeot et Citro\u00ebn NDA<\/em>) par son implantation notamment.<br \/>\nOn a profit\u00e9 de l\u2019opportunit\u00e9 d\u2019un espace qui se lib\u00e9rait pour concr\u00e9tiser ce studio qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 termin\u00e9 un peu avant l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9.\u00a0En fait, nous l\u2019avons en quelque sorte inaugur\u00e9 au moment de la r\u00e9v\u00e9lation de DS3 Crossback.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5195 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/119-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/119-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/119-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/119-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/119-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/119-370x370.jpg 370w, https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/119-1040x1040.jpg 1040w, https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/119.jpg 1701w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Les deux derniers concept-cars de DS : au fond, l&#8217;E-TENSE et au premier plan, la maquette de la X E-TENSE.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>C\u2019est une organisation nouvelle pour un bureau de design\u00a0?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Th.M. : Nous devons \u00eatre les seuls \u00e0 \u00eatre structur\u00e9 ainsi.\u00a0Nous avons toutes les \u00e9quipes sur un m\u00eame plateau\u00a0: les designers \u00ab\u00a0exter\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0inter\u00a0\u00bb mais aussi ce qu\u2019on appelle le \u00ab\u00a0lighting\u00a0\u00bb (optiques et feux, etc), les designers couleurs et mati\u00e8res sans oublier les modeleurs \u2018num\u00e9rique\u2019.\u00a0Les \u00e9changes sont facilit\u00e9s et surtout, rapides.\u00a0C\u2019est incroyablement efficace.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Combien de personnes travaillent sur ce plateau\u00a0?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Th.M. : Nous avons un effectif global d\u2019une soixantaine de personnes maximum, avec comme cr\u00e9atifs purs, une vingtaine de designers inter, exter et lighting <strong>(ci-dessous, DS E-TENSE)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5184 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/104-1024x302.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"302\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/104-1024x302.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/104-300x88.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/104-768x226.jpg 768w, https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/104-370x109.jpg 370w, https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/104-1040x306.jpg 1040w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Avez-vous d\u2019autres \u00ab\u00a0outils\u00a0\u00bb que ce seul plateau\u00a0?<\/strong><br \/>\nTh.M. : Nous avons une salle de maquettage qu\u2019on appelle la \u00ab\u00a0<em>digital room<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb.\u00a0C\u2019est une immense salle de r\u00e9alit\u00e9 virtuelle pour r\u00e9aliser notre travail de modelage num\u00e9rique, un endroit magique o\u00f9 nous pouvons visualiser nos travaux en 3D sur un gigantesque \u00e9cran\u00a0! Je dirais qu\u2019au style, nous r\u00e9alisons 80 % du d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019un nouveau produit en num\u00e9rique.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ce nouveau studio de design DS peut-il servir de laboratoire pour les deux autres marques\u00a0?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Th.M. : Cette organisation est propre \u00e0 DS et surtout, adapt\u00e9e \u00e0 DS.\u00a0C\u2019est une \u00e9quipe compacte, plus r\u00e9duite que celles des autres marques du groupe, ce qui est logique si vous comparez l\u2019\u00e9tendue des diff\u00e9rentes gammes.\u00a0La direction l\u2019a annonc\u00e9\u00a0: DS va lancer six v\u00e9hicules d\u2019ici 2022. A droite, Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Soubirou \u00e0 qui l&#8217;on doit l&#8217;origine du design DS puisqu&#8217;il a dessin\u00e9 la DS3 !<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>S\u2019il y a une grosse boulette lors du choix en num\u00e9rique, vous n\u2019avez donc plus le temps de conception n\u00e9cessaire pour remettre tout d\u2019aplomb\u00a0?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Th.M. : Il n&#8217;y a pas de grosse boulette ! On s\u00e9curise tout \u00e0 chaque \u00e9tape de la gestation du produit.\u00a0La grosse boulette ne pourrait concerner que les proportions mais ce domaine, nous le ma\u00eetrisons parfaitement en num\u00e9rique.\u00a0Lors des premi\u00e8res phases de d\u00e9veloppement en digital, nous r\u00e9alisons quand m\u00eame des maquettes en mousse, hyper pr\u00e9cises et tr\u00e8s rapides \u00e0 fraiser.\u00a0Elles nous permettent de valider les grandes masses, les proportions.\u00a0Une grosse boulette, ce serait lorsqu\u2019on travaille dans la zone des 3 \u00e0 4 centim\u00e8tres\u00a0!<br \/>\nAvec nos maquettes \u00e9chelle 1, on travaille uniquement sur la mise au point du style, dans une fourchette qui n\u2019exc\u00e8de jamais le centim\u00e8tre.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Avoir pu b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de la nouvelle plateforme CMP, est-ce une chance pour DS\u00a0?<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>Th.M. : Ce que nous avons v\u00e9cu au lancement du programme de la DS3 Crossback est assez rare\u00a0: faire co\u00efncider le d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019une nouvelle plateforme avec le lancement d\u2019un nouveau produit. Cette plateforme est capable d&#8217;accueillir de tr\u00e8s grandes roues pour am\u00e9liorer le design des silhouettes qui l&#8217;habilleront.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Un hasard du calendrier finalement\u00a0?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Th.M. : Non, car il \u00e9tait act\u00e9 bien avant que DS serait la marque qui allait lancer cette plateforme.\u00a0Nous avons eu la chance ainsi de pouvoir travailler avec les \u00e9quipes de l\u2019ing\u00e9nierie sur la conception m\u00eame de la CMP.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Comment le design interagit avec les d\u00e9cideurs de la technique\u00a0?<br \/>\n<\/strong>Th.M. : Nous les avons <em>challeng\u00e9s<\/em> et ils nous ont suivi sur notre volont\u00e9 d\u2019avoir les plus grandes roues du segment : jusqu\u2019\u00e0 690 mm, ce n\u2019est pas rien.\u00a0Nous voulions aussi des voies les plus larges possibles et pouvoir b\u00e2tir sur cette CMP un style avec un capot long, des porte-\u00e0-faux courts, etc.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5180 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/100.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"591\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/100.jpg 591w, https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/100-300x122.jpg 300w, https:\/\/lignesauto.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/100-370x151.jpg 370w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 591px) 100vw, 591px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Au sein du groupe PSA, chaque marque a trouv\u00e9 -ou va le faire assez vite (je pense \u00e0 Opel)- sa propre identit\u00e9. Ces voitures que j\u2019\u00e9voque ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9es dans l\u2019urgence et \u00e7a se voit.\u00a0Elles ont \u00e9t\u00e9 parfois con\u00e7ues sur des plateformes ou des \u00e9l\u00e9ments de plateformes existants. I would say that in terms of style, we achieve 80% of the development of a new digital product.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Can this new DS design studio be used as a laboratory for the other two brands ?<\/strong><br \/>\nTh.M. : &#8220;This organization is specific to DS and, above all, adapted to DS.\u00a0It is a compact team, smaller than those of the other brands in the group, which is logical if you compare the scope of the different ranges.\u00a0Management has announced it: DS will launch six vehicles by 2022. Everything is secured at every stage of the product&#8217;s gestation.\u00a0The big dumpling could only concern the proportions, but we have a perfect command of this field in digital technology.\u00a0During the first phases of digital development, we still produce foam models, which are very precise and very fast to mill.\u00a0They allow us to validate the large masses, the proportions.\u00a0A big dumpling would be when you work in the 3 to 4 centimeter zone!\u00a0With our scale 1 models, we only work on the development of the style, in a range that never exceeds one centimeter.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is it an opportunity for DS to have benefited from the new CMP platform ?<\/strong><br \/>\nTh.M. : &#8221;\u00a0What we experienced at the launch of the DS3 Crossback program is quite rare: aligning the development of a new platform with the launch of a new product. You must never lose the notion of emotion in the car !\u00a0Our DS X E-TENSE is the complete opposite of these stereotypical concepts.\u00a0Its demonstrative side is intense: there is a &#8220;Wahooo&#8221; side when you discover it !\u00a0You don&#8217;t find yourself in front of a washing machine or a cable car !&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>So, no fear for the designer when faced with the arrival of electric, autonomous and connected cars ?<\/strong><br \/>\nTh.M. : &#8220;On the contrary, I remain convinced that the arrival of platforms dedicated to electrical technology will offer much more freedom of style by reducing the constraints of traditional architectures.\u00a0But it is true that the concept cars of some manufacturers do not yet reflect this freedom. It even freaks me out !&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>We would be in a transitional phase in the announced mutation ?<\/strong><br \/>\nTh.M. : &#8220;Yes, and that&#8217;s understandable. These cars I&#8217;m talking about were built in a hurry and it shows.\u00a0They have sometimes been designed on existing platforms or platform elements.
