The eighth generation of Chevrolet Corvette is a hot topic, both across the Atlantic and here, where enthusiasts are beginning to debate the new arrival’s rear mid-engine architecture. Will it be officially imported into Europe ? The question remains….
As can be clearly seen from the above illustration, the main (r)evolution therefore comes from the technical architecture with the engine in the central rear position… The latter’s power is 495 hp (490 hp on the version with an attack price of “less than $60,000” in the USA) and the 2020 Corvette cuts 0 to 100 km/h in three seconds.
The lightweight aluminium structure limits the total weight to 1530 kg, slightly higher than the previous generation of Corvette, the C7. The length of the beast is limited to 4.63 m.
Chevrolet is very proud to announce that its 2020 Corvette has two large storage compartments, one located in the small front trunk, the other behind the engine. In the latter, you can put up a golf bag or the dismountable pavilion that transforms the Corvette into a discoverable vehicle.
The only gearbox on offer at the moment is a new eight-speed dual clutch gearbox. The “meca” box has not been announced….
Waiting to see a copy of this Corvette C8 2020 on our roads, here is a “post” which is dedicated to the Corvette, from 1953 to 2020…
Let’s start by offering you the brochure of the first generation Corvette, the C1, which was produced from 1953 to 1962. Click on the “download” button under the picture below: -)
