According to the well-known “less is more” formula, Edwin Senger, transport designer in Ulm, Germany, designed the lightest Land Rover: the Back Packer.
Do not look for aesthetic legitimacy with the current range, it is a completely new product in the potential offer of the legendary manufacturer. And if the inspiration comes from the very first Land Rover 01 Series of 1948, the Back Packer moves away from it on all the other themes that it completely reinvents. The first idea is to know how far we can go in lightening the Land….
Then, with the little he has kept, Edwin Senger has endowed his project with a certain adaptability to the environment chosen for the walks. The Back Packer unveils its intelligence with travel kits housed in the rear of the small vehicle (100% electric, should we mention it…)
In addition to a tent carefully stored in the rear space, the small Land offers you various covers against the sun, rain and even snow. These canvases are attached to the bodywork with specially designed zips and anchors.
This private project is not lacking in interest and LIGNES/auto appreciates it first of all because it redefines a product for its use, without diverting it from it as it is designed. Imagining a Land Rover that is so light, so frail while offering services that you can only imagine at the height of it is a fresh and enjoyable exercise 🙂
